The U.S. entered World War II after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This devastating attack destroyed much of the Pacific Fleet and killed over 2,400 Americans – President Roosevelt called it “a date which will live in infamy.” America joined the global fight against fascism and imperialism to support the Allied Powers (United Kingdom, France, and the USSR) fighting the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan).
