George Washington earned the nickname “Father of Our Country” for leading America to independence and creating a stable government. As General of the Continental Army, he led troops to victory against Britain in the Revolutionary War. Washington also presided as President of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, guiding delegates to create the U.S. Constitution that governs America today.
